VOCAL IMPRESSIONIST AND LIVE MULTI INSTRUMENTALIST
Mike and His Music has been a registered act since March 1976
In those days he was only semi professional, aminly working on music at weekends.
Mike was a well known pianist before that, working in mostly pubs, clubs and doing private parties.
His first venue as Mike and His Music was at The Enterprise in Hartcliffe Way, Bedminster, Bristol
His performance led on from a regular spot in their lounge bar, playing a grand piano on Friday and Sunday evenings. On Saturdays, he sometimes played the white upright piano on a little stage in the public bar.
At that time he was just known as "Mike" and mainly performed instrumentals for sing a longs and accompanying singers (in those days there was no karaoke) so pianists had to be very versatile in knowing all the latest popular chart songs as well as Roll Out the Barrel and Tavern in the Town!
The name Mike and His Music came about by a customer suggesting he change his name as Mike had
introduced an Electronic drum unit, a Hohner mono synth, microphone and harmonica in a harness.
The customer suggested that he sounded like more than one musician. He said that years ago there was
Ted Heath and his music, he said you can be - Mike and His Music
